2018 Camille Giroud Hautes-Côtes de Beaune
Among the finest of the boutique negociant – winemakers is Maison Camille Giroud, an old and venerable negoce, which is today presided over by Carel Voorhuis of Domaine d’Ardhuy. Founded in 1865, Camille Giroud earned an impeccable reputation over the last century and half as a specialist in “eccentrically traditional” vin de garde.
The style today is very different with wines extremely aromatic, refined and with a wonderful texture.
Interestingly for a Bourgogne from the Hautes Côtes with earth and sauvage nuances on the ultra-fresh red currant suffused nose. There is excellent intensity and detail to the more obviously mineral-laden flavours that also display hints of salinity and austerity on the linear finish.
100% Pinot Noir
