2018 Thivin ‘Vignes D’Ecussol’ Beaujolais Villages
Chateau Thivin’s roots in Beaujolais hark back to the 15th century when the estate was built on Mont Brouilly, an extinct volcano in the Cote de Brouilly, one of the more famous Cru Beaujolais. Now run by the third generation of the Geoffray family, who have presided over the holdings since 1977. The continuity and extensive care put into in the well manicured vineyards lead to exceptionally clean fruit. This entry level production shows much like their more expensive Cru bottlings, offering loads of ripe red currant and pomegranate as well as earthy, forest floor tones and a rich underlying minerality throughout.
